A San Diego native, Michelle Harty grew up in the hospitality industry working in various roles for established hotel chains. Her passion for meetings & events led her to pursue a consulting position at Pfizer, Inc. and in 2000 to launch Meeting Sites Pro, Inc. Since then, she has founded a second company, SM Squared, earned her CMP and a CMP-HC, and continues to be a respected industry leader and speaker. Michelle has served as a board member on the Governance Commission for the CIC to further the future of our profession and is an advisor and speaker to the Center for Business Intelligence on meetings and events management guidelines and best practices. Today, Meeting Sites Pro successfully manages meetings for a diverse client base from small companies to large fortune 500 corporations across industries which include pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical device, association, technology, government and more.
In March of 2020, the industry with the rest of the world came to a stop due to Covid-19. During the following months, Michelle personally reached out to many colleagues through social media to check in with them and found many discouraged and in need of information. With all the uncertainty about the future, Michelle brought thought leaders from across the country together to discuss innovations necessary to move us forward now and best practices for getting our industry back to having face to face meetings again with safety top of mind. Michelle has made these webinars free and available to the public to inspire, elevate, educate, and focus on forward movement and on what is possible rather than what is not. These webinars have engaged thousands and continue to make an immediate and lasting impact. For over twenty years, Michelle has provided leadership, knowledge and inspiration that facilitate a positive impact on her clients, suppliers, employees, and the community. In recognition, the San Diego Business Journal awarded Michelle as a 2020 CEO of the Year Finalist.
Michelle is passionate about her work, her family, her community and being the best version of herself. In her free time, Michelle enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, mentoring her nieces, and taking walks on the beach with her husband.
